Amphenol’s Max M12 Product Line
Amphenol Corporation, a major producer of fiber optic and electronic connectors, cables, and interconnect systems, has recently improved their Max M12 product offering in order to include board level connectors which can mate onto a printed circuit board with either right angle solder pins or straight solder pins. These latest connectors will be ideal for use in harsh environments and high speed data transmission devices.
The Max M21 product line is capable of easily transmitting high speed data in demanding environments where there might be moisture, high vibration, debris, dirt, and salt. Such applications will include communication systems and cameras on mining, agricultural, and construction equipment. The Max M12 product line may also be found on mass transit and rail communication systems as well as for hardened factory automation.

“The connectors are rated to 4 A, and can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from 55°C to 125°C with all versions being rated at IP67 or above, making them dust- and waterproof, resistant to high pressure wash downs and water immersion. The Max M12 will also endure a salt spray test for up to 240 hours.”
This improved Max M12 printed circuit board header connects with an in-line which is capable of withstanding contact retentions forces up to 110 N as well as connector to cable retention forces up to 444 N. The in-line mate is offered in straight versions and 90 degree right angle versions; they are housed in a plastic shell or an HDM 12 EX impact resistant metal. This HDM 12 EX impact resistant metal version is necessary for shielding. Both the 5- and 4-pin variants are also offered with A, B, D, as well as P polarity codes with additional codes and pin counts available upon request.
