Fluke Electronics : Troubleshooting Innovators

Working out of Everett, Washington, Fluke Electronics is a prominent manufacturer of industrial testing equipment. The company provides testing and troubleshooting solutions to the manufacturing and service industries with every new office, retail operation, bank, hospital, or manufacturing facility being a potential client for Fluke. Fluke Electronics was founded in 1948 by John Fluke—a former General Electric employee and former roommate of David Packard, co-founder of Hewlett-Packard. Since 1998, Fluke has been operating as the Test & Measurement Division of Washington, D.C.-based Danaher Corporation. Field applications of Fluke Electronics technologies include:

  • Bosch Group : The multinational automotive engineering firm Bosch Group faced a challenge where its networking team struggled to collaborate on projects and issues due to systematic overload. Bosch had seven overburdened network managers located in three different facilities being responsible for the IT support of 40 facilities across Germany. To address this problem, the Bosch team incorporated Fluke’s Optiview XG Network Analysis Tablet to streamline the work done by its IT department.
  • Micronas : Zurich-based Mircronas is a global designer of semiconductors. With facilities spanning the globe in Austria, United States, China, and Holland, Micronas faced the challenge of handling heavy data loads—mainly from inter-site traffic stemming from very large CAD files. Micronas needed a network monitoring solution for the traffic on its WAN. Using Fluke’s NetFlow Tracker and NetWatch, Micronas’ Windows Systems and Infrastructure team can determine which specific line is loaded, and why it is loaded.

In addition to servicing civil sector clients, Fluke Electronics has landed the following federal contracts:

  • In 2014, the US Naval Sea Systems Command in Corona, California solicited US$1.4 million worth of Fluke Model 720A high voltage dividers.
  • In 2013, the US Air Force Materiel Command bestowed a US$1.1 million contract for Fluke to upgrade the automatic test equipment calibrator electronic system that supports the Air Force’s cruise missiles.
  • In 2009, the Naval Inventory Control Point awarded Fluke Electronics a US$14.6 million firm-fixed-price contract to produce voltage standards for the general purpose electronic test equipment weapons system to be completed by 2014.
  • In 2008, the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division granted a US$11 million contract for 475 Fluke 5700EP calibrators.
