Molex : The market’s only FEP MIL-Spec Flat-Ribbon Cable
On October 3, 2014, the electronic interconnector manufacturer, Molex, introduced their new Temp-Flex FEP Flat-Ribbon Cable. This new cable will be the only FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene) on the market that meets specific military specification requirements for M49055/11 and M49055/12. Designed especially for harsh environment use, the Temp-Flex FEP flat-ribbon cable is able to tolerate high temperatures, high flexure, abrasion, and chemical exposure better than Polyvinyl Chloride and Thermoplastic Elastomers products. Such environments include rugged and extensive use in military aircraft instruments and industrial equipment.
The Temp-Flex FEP Flat-Ribbon Cable can endure temperatures from -65 to +200 degrees Celsius. In addition, they are resistant to volatile liquids such as acids, alcohols, aldehydes, bases, esters, hydrocarbons, and ketones. Although, the cable has a big focus on its resistance design, electronic connecting capabilities are not overlooked. Due to a low-loss dielectric constant, the Temp-Flex FEP Flat-Ribbon Cable can achieve optimal signal with very little loss in transmission. Since the company’s beginnings in 1938, Molex has been a leader in the electrical connectors industry. With over 35,983 employees, Molex’s products are produced and distributed on the worldwide scale. As a major manufacture of over 100,000 products such as electrical connectors, optical fiber connectors, and switches the company supplies to consumers, business, and OEMs in industries such as telecom, automotive, industrial, medical, and military alike. The world famous and significantly used Molex Connector was designed by the company in the 1950s and is one of many connectors that paved the way for Molex to become the manufacturing super power that it is today. If you’re in the market for connectors and other connector-related components, Just Connectors (a proprietary website of ASAP Semiconductor) is a leading distributor of all things connectors.
