Both of these types of relays are similar in that they both have contacts in encapsulated in a glass from ferromagnetic material. The dry reed relays has an advantage of being hermetically sealed and reducing oxidation build-up in the glass. The same goes with the mercury witted reed relays except that in their glass tube some mercury is added inside the glass tube to provide more resistance.
